Car Seat Workshop

Safe Kids Tulsa Area and local hospitals offer a free monthly two hour car seat workshop for expectant parents and caregivers. A certified child passenger safety technician will conduct the workshop. Topics include physical characteristics of infants and children, an overview of crash dynamics, various car seat types, correct usage, demonstrations of proper installation and common misuse.

If you are in need of a car seat, are the primary caregiver of the child and are on government assistance (WIC, Food Stamps, SoonerCare), you may attend this workshop to receive a new car seat for $10. Proof of government assistance and $10 (cash only) must be provided at the time of the workshop. The car seat may then be picked up at a future car seat checkup event of your choice. Please note that convertible car seats are used for expectant parents and children under 2 years of age.

A maximum of one seat per child and two seats per family will be enforced. The workshop is for adults only — NO CHILDREN will be permitted to attend. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited. Classes fill up quickly, so don’t delay in getting registered.
